I play keyboard, like to improvise, and have been known to compose. Below are some of my creations.
My most recent recorded instrumental, which, like most of the stuff I play, contains some improvisation. Update: I dedicated this instrumental to my grandmother, Nancy Pearce, at her funeral in May 2007.
I created this instrumental for a friend, to express my empathy for her circumstances at the time.
This nonsense song emerged from an email discussion with a friend in Israel. Each line refers to some topic covered by the discussion (yes, we've discussed planets that wave, sharks that climb trees, and much more. What can I say? My friends are like that). It's me doing both the singing and the playing.
Wave to the earth, it's been waving at you
Climb with the sharks for a wide jungle view
Vegans eat children, so share yours before
All the icebergs have drifted from Israel's shore.
The best lyrics I ever wrote were those featured in the song A World Within Your Mind, which I composed in 1997 (lyrics here). Apologies for the quality of the recording, which is a digitised cassette tape excerpt.
This is a piece for which I wrote the tune and lyrics in 1994 or thereabouts, but created this arrangement in 2006. I don't sing on this recording, because I don't think my voice suits this particular song very well.
What I feel is a kind of torture
Every moment reminds me of a thought that once occured
And I feel nothing less than torture
When I remember that the thought is too absurd.
I cannot justify the course this tension's leading
I wait unsatisfied, in pain and almost screaming.
Waiting for some release from torture
To release my mind, a thought that's not absurd
And I feel nothing less than torture
When I remember that the thought has not occured.
I cannot justify the course this tension's leading
I wait unsatisfied, in pain and almost screaming.
More of the the music I've composed over the years can be found on my blog. Here are a few pointers:
